Directed by Steve Rogers, “The Rarest Stars Shine Brightest” sees five kids save the day when a blackout hits NYC just before the holidays.

This is a holiday story about self-belief, about courage and self-reliance and spirit and boldness. It is a celebration of what can be achieved when we work together to overcome obstacles, no matter how daunting or overwhelming they may seem. These qualities are infused in the story of the ‘The Rarest Stars Shine Brightest’, a story about five kids from New York, all with rare diseases, who one day decide to take it upon themselves and save the holidays.

Shining a light on rare diseases

Rare diseases affect millions but often go unnoticed due to their complexity. In partnership with Wild, we created an interactive WebGL experience to educate and raise awareness, comparing the effort to finding hidden stars in space. With over 10,000 rare diseases, simplifying this topic was a challenge. Our goal was to make science and medicine engaging, approachable, and visually captivating. The result is a WebGL-powered microsite where users explore space to “discover hidden stars,” symbolizing rare diseases. Using conversational language inspired by science books, the site makes complex medical topics easy to understand for all ages.
